Ms Debbie Hunt

Clinical Case Manager

Debbie has worked as a psychologist in the healthcare field since qualifying in 2003. She has gained experience in different settings and with clients across the lifespan. As a counselling psychologist Debbie understands the importance of working together with clients requiring case management to help them understand their problems, identify their individual needs and goals in order improve wellbeing and autonomy. She advocates for her clients and considers all aspects of their life in order to enable and promote opportunities and inclusion.

In her current role she has gained experience supporting a diversity of client groups, within inpatient, day hospital, outpatient, home and care home settings. This has provided opportunities to work and liaise effectively with a variety of multidisciplinary and community health and social care teams. Many of the people Debbie has supported have had complex needs; she has a good understanding of risk management.

Prior to her current post in the NHS Debbie worked for over ten years with clients with brain injuries on stroke rehabilitation wards. There, she provided psychological support for individuals, groups, families and carers. She ran nursing staff support and work discussion groups and was involved in staff teaching and training. She currently provides junior doctors, trainee psychologists and nursing staff with regular supervision.

All her roles in multidisciplinary teams have enabled Debbie to develop a good understanding of care planning and she is effective in the assessment, planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluating actions that are required to meet clients' needs. Debbie always works to promote a client’s quality of life and maximise their potential. She works collaboratively, coordinating with other professionals and services to ensure the most effective outcome for the client. Debbie understands the importance of working with the legal team and other health and social care professionals, to enable the needs of clients and families to be met.
